Hoi An market People of HoiAn River Life in HoiAn

For me, one of the greatest pleasures in Hoi An was just sitting down somewhere and watching the people go by.

There is always something interesting to see. For example the very well wrapped up lady above. I found it a very hot day, and had just stopped to have a cooling beer when this lady stepped off a small cross-river ferry.

Or the gentleman on the right sauntering down the middle of the street outside our hotel.

Or the cross-river ferryman waiting for a fare, below.

Above is a tea seller. On my way back to the hotel I came across this lady again, after she had sold all her tea and was sitting chatting with her friend, a stall holder who sold herbs.

On the left are three generations of a family beside their gift shop.

4 on a motorbike

The family above had just come off the ferry. It is quite common to see 3 or 4 people on a motorbike, and I have seen 5! Crash helmets are almost never seen, but sunglasses are fashionable.

The old lady on the right was walking home from the market with her purchases.
